Welcome
The Baylor Family Foundation believes that when communities have a meaningful stake in shaping their neighborhoods, they can create environments that benefit residents and businesses, while aligning with local initiatives. The Baylor Family Foundation is the 501(c)(3) community impact partner to JADT Development Group, LLC. We’re rooted in North Minneapolis, and our work is simple: listen closely, build with the community, and follow through.
We start by learning what residents, local leaders, and neighborhood partners are asking for. Then we help align land, buildings, and resources to support that vision – especially when it comes to housing and long-term neighborhood stability.
When projects succeed, we work to reinvest resources back into the same communities, so the benefits stay local and keep building over time.
The Baylor Family Foundation is not currently a grant-making organization. Right now, we’re focused on raising support for our North Minneapolis housing projects – especially senior housing – so we can close funding gaps and keep momentum moving.
The mission and purpose of the Baylor Family Foundation (BFF) is to serve as a resource for funding opportunities that create lasting, positive impact in the communities where we live and do business. This includes supporting sustainable real estate projects, strengthening local business and community organizations, supporting youth development and family engagement programs that expand opportunity and build long-term community well-being.
BFF accomplishes its work by requesting philanthropic support from external partners and by generating revenue through successful, mission-aligned business and real estate endeavors. These resources, along with other charitable activities conducted within the scope of our 501(c)(3), are reinvested directly into the communities we serve to ensure impact is both meaningful and sustainable.
Our mission is to help communities thrive from the inside out—by aligning investment, opportunity, and local leadership to support growth that is rooted in community priorities and long-term prosperity.
Tim is a former defensive back in the National Football League, having played with both the Baltimore Colts and the Minnesota Vikings. Following his professional football career, Tim became a real estate executive with the McDonald’s Corporation, where he gained a rare ground-to-boardroom perspective. This experience exposed him to real estate development at every level—from neighborhood streets and community corridors to corporate and professional environments—shaping his understanding of how investment decisions impact communities over time.
Tim and Doris Baylor share a deep commitment to community building rooted in the belief that strong neighborhoods are created through thoughtful investment, local opportunity, and long-term stewardship. Their work reflects a hands-on, value-driven approach to strengthening communities and improving quality of life.
Together, they combine complementary experience, leadership, and purpose in service of the Baylor Family Foundation—advancing its mission to help communities thrive from the inside out through thoughtful investment, local opportunity, and long-term stewardship.
Doris Baylor is a passionate, visionary leader dedicated to building community and advancing opportunity in Minneapolis and the surrounding areas. As a former senior management executive and respected community leader, Doris has more than 20 years of experience across corporate, nonprofit, and community-based organizations. Her career reflects a strategic focus on developing, managing, and promoting business entities, community programs, and entrepreneurial ventures that strengthen neighborhoods and expand access to opportunity.
The Baylor Family Foundation (BFF) centers community voices and collaboration in everything we do. We bring in partners as needed; prioritize impact over duplication; and intentionally align land, buildings, and capital with priorities identified by residents and the evolving needs of business development and neighborhood stabilization.
We believe strong neighborhoods are built with a mix of housing options, thriving local businesses, and real support for youth and families.
That belief shows up in our work every day – especially on West Broadway, where North Minneapolis has seen significant affordable development but little to no market-rate housing for decades.
We invest where we live.
That means showing up consistently, listening to the people who call the neighborhood home, and supporting the shared vision residents and local partners are working toward.
This is not one-off engagement. It’s relationship-driven, grounded in place, and built for follow-through, so neighborhood priorities stay at the center and the benefits stay local.
Strong neighborhoods need strong local organizations.
Our neighborhoods require businesses, nonprofits, and community groups that provide services, create jobs, and hold the fabric of a community together.
We work alongside locally rooted leaders to strengthen what’s already working. Sometimes that means helping clarify priorities. Sometimes it means bringing the right people to the table. Often, it’s practical support that helps a good idea become a finished project.
Supporting youth and connecting families to their community.
When young people have consistent support and families feel connected, communities grow stronger for the long term.
We will invest in youth and families through programs, partnerships, and activities that create safe places to learn, build skills, and belong – while also strengthening family connections and community networks.
Individuals, funders, companies, and community partners can all play a role in supporting this work:
